SHORELINE STABILITY SIMULATION OF THE BEACH IN NEW BEIDAIHE DISTRICT AFTER NOURISHMENT

  • With the rising of public concerns of sandy coast erosion and beach resources protection, a great number of beach nourishment projects have been carried out. The shoreline stability after beach nourishment is the key factor if the project was successful or not. In this paper, using the artificial beach nourishment project of new Beidaihe District as an example, the authors studied the shoreline stability of Yanghe river-Grape Island coast through numerical modeling and physical model tests. The results show that the method of artificial beach nourishment combining with jettys and artificial sand bars can play a good effect on protecting and extending the beach, and effectively maintain the shoreline stability of the new Beidaihe District.
