Abstract
As a kind of advanced marine survey equipment, the Remote Operated Vehicle system, has the capability to carry out long-time, high-precision spot sampling and marine environmental survey. In regional marine geological survey, using ROV has great advantages over other kinds of equipment, for examples, the multi-function and integrated operational capability, safety and reliability, real-time remote control and so on. Up to date, the ROV has not yet been widely used in regional geological survey. However, it is in the way of development and improvement, its application to regional marine geological survey is expectable. In this paper, we take the Haishi ROV system as an example to make introduction to the equipment and its applications to regional marine geological survey in China.
