COMBINED THREE-STEP METHOD FOR MULTIPLE ELIMINATION AND ITS APPLICATION TO DEEP WATER SEISMIC DATA PROCESSING

  • In deep water seismic survey, multiples are strong in energy and long in effecting time. As the results, S/N ratio will be reduced and the quality of final images and the reliability of reservoirs inversion seriously effected. Therefore, the elimination of multiples remains the key problem of deep water seismic processing. The first work to be done is to know the type, causes and characteristics of multiples. Then, endeavor should be made to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of multiple attenuation methods available so as to make a reasonable choice to combine these methods together to attenuate the multiples. This paper uses the seismic data from an area of the South China Sea, a combination of SRME and high resolution Radon filter technique is adopted to attenuate the residual multiples. The so-called combined three-step multiple elimination method has been proven an effective tool to achieve better quality of data processing.
