Geochemical Characteristics and Prospect Analysis of Brine Lithium Deposits in Jitai Basin, Jiangxi Province

  • Jitai Basin is located in the middle of Jiangxi Province and the middle reaches of Ganjiang River, with an area of 4550 square kilometers.Structurally, it belongs to the junction of Furongshan fault bundle and Ji'an depression of South China fold system, and mainly deposited a set of Cretaceous red clastic rocks with ointment salt layer and brine.Based on the study of the abnormal characteristics of stream sediments of the known Meigang brine lithium deposit in Taihe County, the authors detected that the brine lithium deposit was mainly caused by the syngenetic deposition of lithium in the third and fourth stages of the Zhoutian Formation of the Cretaceous period.Combined with 1:200 000 geochemical data and 1:50 000 geochemical investigation of Zhixia Sheet in Jitai Basin, 4 potential prospective areas with Meigang lithium high enrichment as the core were delineated, and 8 lithium enrichment areas were discovered in Cretaceous and Quaternary sediments on both sides of Ganjiang River in Jitai Basin, which shows that Jitai basin has a good prospect for finding brine lithium deposits.
