Abstract
As a kind of "soft" engineering method, artificial beach nourishment is regarded as the most harmonious beach protection measure to protect the coastal ecological environment. This method can repair the eroded shorelines and protect them from coastal erosion. Building artificial sandbars is one of the choices for beach nourishment. On one hand, it, as a kind of offshore submerged breakwaters with "shield efficacy", could weaken the wave energy and protect the areas behind the sandbars. On the other hand, it has "feeding efficacy" to provide sands to the beach for stability. Through numerical simulation and physical modeling, this paper discussed the beach nourishment efficacy of sandbars taking the Beidaihe beach nourishment project as an example.
