EROSIONAL HOTSPOTS AT BEIDAIHE BEACH AFTER NOURISHMENT

Abstract
The study of "erosional hotspots" has become a hot topic for beach nourishment projects all over the world, since they might cause serious loss of coastal resources, and bring negative effect on beach nourishment projects. In this paper, using the beach nourishment project at the west Beidaihe beach as a case, the authors studied the erosional hotspots of west Beidaihe beach after nourishment through numerical modeling and physical model tests. Coupled with the monitoring data in different periods after the project, the locations of erosional hotspots at the west Beidaihe beach have been discovered. The origin of erosional hotspots was discussed as well in this paper so as to provide a technical case for reference by other beach nourishment projects. -
