Abstract
Owing to the effect of Meso-Cenozoic tectonic movements, the maximum compressive stress of the regional stress field is in a direction of NEE-SWW in Tianjin offshore area, and the NE and EW active faults are well developed. Strong earthquakes and volcanic activities occasionally happened in the Cenozoic Era. Large amount of literatures suggests that the distribution of stress concentration zone can be inferred from stress-fault interaction. Efforts are made in this paper to reveal the spatial relationship between the stress concentration zone and the distribution of earthquake-volcanic activities in Tianjin offshore area.
