Abstract
The South Yellow Sea Basin, developed on the metamorphic basement of South China, is a large superimposed basin. It is a residual basin experienced multiphase of basin formation and tectonic transformation characterized by the superimposition of Marine basins and Cenozoic rift basins. It has passed the marine basin stages in Huanan period, the developing stage of early and middle Triassic, the half-graben stage in Late Cretaceous, Paleogene and Neogene, and the depression stage in Quaternary, and is a typical superimposed basin with multilayer structures of platform, rifting and depression deposits. Integrated interpretation of seismic data, regional geotectonics and hydrocarbon accumulation and preservation conditions is provided in this paper for study of the oil and gas potential in the basin.
