Abstract
Based on studying the mechanical properties of the rock mass along the Dali-Ruili railway, such as compressive strength, shear strength, tensile strength, elastic modulus and Poisson's ratios, the authors have found that the mechanical properties are well consistent with the theory and the field rock mass classification. Combining the field investigation with the tests of the rock mechanical properties, the authors classified the engineering geological rock masses along the Dali-Ruili railway into 22 groups, in which the hardest and harder rock mass groups occupied the major proportion.
