Abstract
The wide-spread altered clinopyroxene peridotite, serpentinized pyroxenite, gabbro, altered basalt and radiolarian siliceous rocks recognized during the geological surveying of 1∶250 000 Luhuo Sheet occur as tectonic remnants scattered in the metamorphic sandstone and slate flysch strata of the Middle to Upper Triassic Runiange Formation. These remnants are believed to be the ophiolitic assemblages that may reconstruct the complete ophiolite sequences, and thus named the Dawu ophiolites. The discovery of the Dawu ophiolites has important implications for the refinement of the tectonic settings, regional tectonic framework and stratigraphic division of the Luhuo-Dawu zone.
