Abstract

Abstract

There are mainly deveolped carbonate rocks,sandstone,shale and marine volcanic rocksin the Longkang and Tazang area,Nanping County,Sichuan Province. In the report on re-gional surveys of the 1:200000 Zhangal Sheet,the age of the strata bearing volcanic rocks isassigned to Early Permian and Middle Triassic. Through a systematic measurement of sec-tions in the area,the authors obtained some Famznenian（Late Devonian）conodonts repre-sented by Palmatolepis gracilis sigmoidalis and P. marginifera in the vasic volcancs-bearingsrata that were originally considered to be Middle-Late Triassic in age. As the marine vol-canic rocks alternate with carbonate rocks yielding Late Devonian conodonts iii the area,theage of marine volcanic rocks should be Late Devonian.
