This paper introduces the application and achievements of 3D modeling technology in the exploration of kimberlite type primary diamond deposits in Liaoning Province. Diamond ore is one of the most important minerals in Liaoning Province. The prov-en diamond ore resources/reserves in Wafangdian area of Liaoning account for more than half of the reserves of diamond resources in China. Through carrying out 3D modeling work, some new understanding about the shape of the kimberlite pipe in the area and the direction of deep prospecting was obtained. It is held that the 3D model can better display the spatial distribution of kimberlitetype diamond orebodies and provide guidance for the exploration work.
